5 Cozy Winter Outfits to Wear at Home This Season
Looking to elevate your stay-at-home style this winter? Here are five cozy winter outfits worth living in this season.

We’re completely in the midst of true winter in Pennsylvania. Single-digit temps, sky-high heating bills, the landscape frozen over from last week’s snowfall, and another blizzard on the way. Don’t get me wrong – I enjoy a good winter wonderland. But, it’s days like these I just want to hibernate in chic home outfits of plush fabrics, cozy loungewear, and relaxed silhouettes.
In light of the coming snowstorm, I’ve styled five cozy winter outfits that are perfect for chic cold-weather comfort at home. If you want to break out of your typical “hoodie and sweatpants” or are just looking to upgrade your “lazy days at home” style, this post will inspire you to do that. Each cozy outfit is styled from my own closet (not some winter loungewear haul), so you can easily recreate the looks your way, with your favorite pieces.
Ready to cozy up in style at home? Let’s get into the outfits!
Outfit 1: Knit Winter Loungewear Set for Cozy Chic Luxury

Outfit Formula:
- Knit loungewear set
- One accent to add a personal touch
- Slippers or house shoes
Styling Notes:
There’s nothing chicer than a matching loungewear set – think soft knits like wool, cashmere blends, and chenille – for lazy days at home when it’s cold outside. If you need the accomplishment of actually getting dressed each day (me!), this is the easiest look to slip into after last night’s pajamas.
Make this cozy winter outfit personal by adding a statement accent, such as a pop of color with a layering top, a vintage brooch, a bold necklace, or tying your hair with a patterned scarf. This little tweak is all it takes to refresh the look each week without it growing stale.
Outfit 2: Oversized Knit and Relaxed Wool Trousers for Elegant Winter Comfort

Outfit Formula:
- Oversized sweater
- Relaxed wool trousers (with an easy waistband or drawstring)
- Layering turtleneck (optional)
- Slippers or house shoes
Styling Notes:
I love a cozy winter outfit that’s just as warm as a fleece loungewear set, but way more stylish. That’s where relaxed wool trousers come in. Cozy and tailored, they add a bit of structure to an oversized sweater. If your winters get as cold as mine do, a layering turtleneck (I prefer 100% cotton) is essential for trapping heat without getting too hot.
This casual-chic warm outfit is my go-to for home entertaining or work-from-home days when the camera is on. Not only is this look easy to dress up with accessories to feel even more put-together, but I’m also ready to run out the door in a pinch for pretty much anything!
Outfit 3: Graphic Sweatshirt and Leggings for Busy At-Home Days

Outfit Formula:
- Graphic hoodie or sweatshirt
- Matching leggings (in thick material, like Ponte)
- Long t-shirt for layering (Optional, if your sweatshirt doesn’t cover your bum)
- Thick tall socks
- Shearling slippers
Styling Notes:
For busy chore days, you can’t go wrong with a graphic sweatshirt and leggings for a casual at-home winter outfit. I prefer a sweatshirt that’s tunic length, so it covers my bum. However, layering a long t-shirt under a shorter sweatshirt provides a similar look.
I chose a bold graphic sweatshirt to lift this cozy winter outfit combo – it’s mood-boosting and warm, which is always the goal when battling those winter blues. A thick, Ponte knit legging is my go-to winter staple because they’re stretchy enough to move around in while easily slipping into winter boots for chilly dog walks.
Outfit 4: Long Cardigan and Track Pants for Chill Winter Days

Outfit Formula:
- Long cardigan (think maxi or midi length)
- Layering top
- Track pants or joggers
- Cozy slippers or house shoes
Styling Notes:
A cozy winter outfit is easy to layer on top, but often falls short without insulated bottoms. A long cardigan mimics the warmth of a robe while seamlessly polishing winter loungewear like stylish joggers or track pants.
Regarding layering tops, such as a t-shirt, thermal layers, or a bold mockneck, a tucked-in style will balance proportions and look the most put-together. Whether you’re sitting at your desk or cooking in the kitchen, you’ll look and feel effortlessly cozy – and ready to Netflix binge with your significant other after dinner, too!
Outfit 5: Chic Layers and Velvet Bottoms for Elevated Comfort

Outfit Formula:
- Stylish knit sweater or cardigan
- Layering turtleneck or mock neck top
- Velvet lounge pants or track pants
Styling Notes:
This cozy winter outfit is all about pairing opposite aesthetics to create something chic, or in my words, “business on top, movie marathon-ready on the bottom.” Layering a high-neck top under a knit sweater or cardigan is a classic combo for winter, while luxurious velvet lounge pants keep things completely comfortable.
For me, this outfit distinguishes itself from a basic cozy home outfit due to the crochet detailing in the knit, which looks more feminine and elegant (as would Pointelle, cable-knit, and brushed cashmere, too). I discovered this pairing the other day and think it’s the perfect work-from-home outfit to spend the whole day in.
