Do you want to know the hottest fall shoe trends for 2024? Here are five styles you need to know about as we head into autumn.
It wouldn’t be fall fashion without a refresh to one’s fall shoes. Both Fall/Winter and Ready To Wear runways were buzzing with the latest fall style trends and the footwear did not disappoint. Whether it’s slouchy boho boots, edgy buckles and zippers, or a minimalist Mary Jane flat there’s something to please every fashionista on this list.
Here are the top five, fall shoe trends for 2024–ones that I’ll definitely be styling with all my fall outfits for sure!
This post is all about fall shoe trends.
Best Fall Shoe Trends
1. Biker Boots
While the moto jacket will always be a staple in fall wardrobe essentials, enter it’s cousin: the motorcycle boot. We’re not completely stepping away from lug sole boots, just upgrading the style to something edgier. Biker boots are the perfect choice to wear to the pumpkin patch, apple picking, or fall festival when you want a stylish pair of shoes that won’t ruin easily–just make sure to treat your leather first!
Style a pair of tall moto boots with a mini skirt and argyle tights and a cropped jacket; or pair them with slouchy jeans and a fitted knit top to balance proportions.

Lastly, an all-black outfit with a long, belted maxi skirt, ankle boots and a faux fur vest make the perfect, everyday fall outfit–one I’ll most likely be living in come cooler days.

2. Slingback Pumps
The slingback trend is still going strong heading into these fall shoe trends. And it’s no wonder with ladylike fashion, classic style, nods to the 1950s and 1960s, tweed suits and what it feels like to get dressed for no reason again at the front and center of fall fashion this year.
A slingback easily replaces a traditional pair of pumps and what can’t you style these with? I love the juxtaposition of a pair of black patent leather heels against a chic wide-leg jean in a vintage black wash.

And of course, let’s celebrate the array of styles available for the corporate world. Whether you prefer a classic, pointy-toe slingback or a trendy fall shoe with a square toe these pumps check all the boxes for a feminine, fall season! I personally love them styled with a flared trouser and a fitted blazer for an office chic look, or with a cocktail dress for a fall wedding.

P.S. Don’t be afraid to wear your slingbacks with a cute, matching sock to add a bit of fun to your fall outfits!
3. Ballet Flats
If there’s one pair of shoes I’ll always have in my fall wardrobe (and year-round style, in general), it’s ballet flats. Not only do they give off that Parisian chic vibe so many of covet regardless of one’s style personality, they’re easy to wear and style with every outfit (from athleisure to cocktail dresses).

Go for one of the season’s trendiest looks with a pair of strappy, Mary Jane ballet flats; or throw a pair of fuzzy legwarmers over the top with a casual skirt or LBD. Or take a nod from minimalist fashion with a pair that offers a high-rise vamp (well above the toe box)–perfect for those rainy fall days when you still want a structured look.

4. Over-The-Knee Boots
My fall shoe trends for 2024 list wouldn’t be complete with over-the-knee boots…and the runway agrees. From ultra-thigh high patent leather heels to slouchy, suede boho looks, and onto 2010s, skin-tight stiletto styles, there’s a pair for every style type this fall fashion season.
Style yours with a pencil skirt and an oversized, drapey knit; or tuck a pair of satin joggers into your boots with a fitted top and a cropped jacket. Or maybe you’ve kept one pair of skinny jeans or faux leather leggings around for even more versatility!

I personally own a pair of patent red wine loafers with a block heel and I’m so exited to take them out for fall outfits, especially in one of the hottest colors of the season. If you’re looking for an unexpected color, beige offers a nice contrast against the dark tones of the season.
