Best Valentine’s Day Outfits
1. Sheer Maxi Dress
The first outfit I’ve styled for what to wear on Valentine’s Day is a sheer maxi dress. A sheer knit dress is trendy and playfully sexy for day-to-night Valentine’s looks. This look works with just a slip dress in warmer climates. Nor should we ignore the notion of styling pants or leggings underneath as seen on the runway.

Opt for a color that flatters your skin tone, or any of the classic Valentine’s colors of reds, pinks, or purples. Powder pink is the trending color of 2025 fashion trends, what perfect timing!

2. Romantic Top + Jeans
A romantic top and jeans is a casual elegant look for Valentine’s outfit inspo. A silky top, low-cut blouse, or something bohemian and flowy are all great choices when styled with a cute pair of denim. A simple outfit like this can be elevated with statement jewelry or stylish boots. A sleek updo with a barette, headwrap, or headband is a quick hack for those who don’t have much time to get ready after a long day.
Work with color blocking (1 color for your top and 1 color for your jeans, match either to your footwear), for a simple, but chic Vday outfit. For example, a black top + gray jeans + black boots (called the sandwich styling method) is an easy way to style separates without looking boring.

3. A Floral Skirt
A floral skirt is synonymous with romantic style and one of my favorite Valentine’s Day outfit ideas! A Baroque-inspired floral print, 70s boho blooms, rosettes, or something delicate like Chintz, all look amazing in any length, from maxi to mini skirt for your date night outfit. Chic legwear, like lace or burgundy tights, brings extra drama to an outfit, too.
Style your floral skirt with a solid color top or knit to ground the color scheme. I love a pair of tall boots with a skirt any time of year. For the most cohesive look, try matching the rest of your outfit with colors in your print.

4. Cropped Sweater + High-Waisted Pants
There’s nothing wrong with showing a bit of skin with a cropped sweater and high-waisted pants for a cute Valentine’s Day outfit that’s still casual and comfortable. Eclectic elements such as patterned socks, statement footwear, or chunky knits are the perfect winter outfit inspo to keep things interesting.
Looking for a more innocent or cutesy aesthetic? Styling a heart sweater or pink cable-knit turtleneck makes a cute Valentine’s Day outfit for school, a lunch date, or a casual dinner out.

5. Red Dress Outfit
Last but not least on my list of the best Valentine’s Day outfits is the classic, red dress outfit. Choosing any color of red will do (as some of us look amazing in a bright red, while others look ravishing in a dark cherry, while warmer skin tones may favor a rust red).
Personal style has had a bit of a revival on the runway since the fall of 2024. While there’s credence to finding a fit that flatters your body shape and neckline, it’s also important to wear the dress you feel amazing in. After all, it’s Valentine’s Day and we each deserve to feel our best regardless of our relationship status.
