While many are decorating for the holidays, finding gifts for loved ones, or counting down the days til winter break, I’m thinking about the latest fashion trends and how to incorporate them into my wardrobe come 2025.
Focusing on 2025 fashion trends allows us to retreat from the hustle and bustle of the holiday season, if only for a bit. Not that it’s purely an escape from reality. By dissecting the runway’s latest trends we often journey deeper into ourselves: our desires, resonances, dislikes, goals, and dreams. And even if your style doesn’t blink with the passing trends, there’s still an appreciation for art, expression, and the desire to connect.
This year’s 2025 style trends evoke a sense of nostalgia, which, at the surface, doesn’t sound like anything different from past designer collections. However, the collective nature of these trends embodies a sense of playful innocence. Whether it’s the casual throwback to ’00s sporty aesthetics, the softness of a blush pink ensemble, or a bold nod to eclecticism across designers, the overarching theme of this year’s fashion trends brings about the ultimate return to the carefree nature of childhood, juxtaposed with the wisdom of experience.

1. Wearable Wallpaper
The first fashion trend for 2025 is all about florals. And how could it not be, with the anticipation of spring, wedding season, baby showers, and lighter days? Stepping away from the rosette trend of prior seasons, designers showcased nostalgic prints such as chintz, tapestry florals, 70s blooms, and layered brocade patterns, like at Valentino, Dolce & Gabbana.
Designers even echoed that vintage couch from grandma’s, but done up with the right accessories. Think retro blooms on a sheer maxi dress tastefully styled with boho accessories (like at Etro and Ulla Johnson). Shabby chic blooms on ivory pants can look elegant, as with Chloé’s 2025 Ready To Wear collection.
How do you wear these blooms? Proper styling is key. Busy prints against solid separates such as jackets, tops, or pants showcasing one of the print’s colors are essential to grounding the eyes. 2. Sporty Spice & Everything Nice
While minimalist athleisure will always be a go-to for an everyday outfit in one’s wardrobe, switching things up a bit is fun, too. Runway shows from The Attico, Hermès, 3.1 Philip Lim, and Dior celebrated the sporty aesthetic through saturated hoodies, varsity jackets, swishy pants, parkas, and Formula 1-inspired attire.
This flashy trend emphasizes embellishments and color instead of giant logos and labels. The ultimate twist however comes with the styling component: dressing up (or dressing down) elevated basics such as a blazer, cardigan, slinky skirt (like at Gucci), or a pair of over-the-knee boots. Streetwear meets chicwear, if you will. Elie Saab styled an excellent tonal look with elevated accessories in safari beige.
These fashion trends for 2025 look just as chic with a pair of wide-leg jeans as they do with a pair of trousers. Workwear paired with playful separates can be fun when inspired by of-the-moment sporting events like the Olympics, tennis, or racing.

3. The Softer Side Of Pink
After visiting much of the color spectrum of reds including bright red, millennial pink, Barbie pink, and burgundy, designers have turned to the softer side of the color. Powder pink is the chosen color for 2025 style trends, marked by spring/summer runways from Jil Sander, Chanel, Giambattisa Valli, Genny, and Sergio Hudson.

Powder Pink channels femininity, romance, and innocence. When juxtaposed with wisdom it celebrates the divine feminine aspect of softness as strength, the ethereal nature of the goddess, and love as the ultimate force over all.
Incorporate powder pink or blush pink into your wardrobe through head-to-toe suiting for a chic office look. Or try contrasting separates such as a knit top with a pair of black denim. Add a touch of pink to your 2025 capsule wardrobe through a sheer neck scarf or drop earrings.

4. Downton Abbey Revival
Style trends 2025 had designers playing with the nostalgia of the 1920s with glitz, glam, and embellishments galore. From the intricate detailing at Chanel to the gorgeous headpieces at Ralph Lauren, this 1920s flapper aesthetic took on a softer, boho approach when styled with intricate knitwear, bows, and tie details.
Valentino juxtaposed Edwardian-style dresses with Jazz Age accessories such as feathers and fur boas. Everything from shift dresses (Prabal Gurung) and drop waists (Miu Miu, Michael Kors), lace, and sheer, makes the Gatsby era fashion accessible for much more than your next bachelorette party or glamorous event. I love the idea of a satin headwrap or scarf styled with a knit dress or a top and a pair of denim–secure a scarf with a jeweled barrette for that added touch.

Rock the flapper trend for 2025 with a tunic over a sheer tight or legging. Pull out that fringe kimono from the back of your closet and style it with a basic outfit. Achieve the drop waist style with an embellished hip belt worn to the side. Wear a slinky shift dress for a fancy first date outfit or a girls’ night out. Don’t forget the accessories–dangly, sparkly costume jewelry to dress up any basic wardrobe essentials or work wardrobe.

Eclectic style is no newcomer to the fashion runway, but designers fully embraced the notion for 2025 fashion. Oxford Dictionary defines ‘eclectic’ as “deriving ideas, style, or taste from a broad and diverse range of sources”. This is a hard turn from the trendy aesthetics of ‘quiet luxury’ and ‘clean girl’ and a giant step into the notion that expressing one’s personal style matters most.
Eclectic isn’t necessarily synonymous with maximalism–unless you want to embody the “more is more” approach. Prada, Valentino, and Versace showcased different looks for a uniquely intriguing statement. From funky hats to clashing colors, graphic prints, or a flashy handbag (seen at Dries Van Noten) these looks brought intrigue and refreshment to the season’s past where aesthetics and influencers had the upper hand in driving what’s in (and what’s out).
It’s not that aesthetic-driven fashion is over. Its value as an inspired method of dressing and curating style has genuine weight. True eclecticism is thinking outside the box and mixing one style with another, creating interest and individuality through contrast.
Quiet luxury mixed with boho? Proenza Schoeler thinks so. How about the basic white tank with an embellished maxi skirt and a Western belt at Ralph Lauren? Pastel silk separates with a harsh pointy-toe black boot at Jil Sander. It’s on.
